Our Story

From the time she could hold a crayon, Lucy has been drawing. She took that passion off to Leeds University to study Graphic Design and had a successful career as a book cover designer. 

One day when doodling at home in Brixton, Lucy drew a B, filled with the places that made Brixton so special. She took a few prints of the design to a local craft market, they were a hit and the requests for her to create more designs started flooding in. 

Five years later she left her corporate job and starting working out of her spare room, designing and selling #locationletters. Ten years later, with over 200 location designs, over 50 stockists, two members of staff and a dedicated studio office at the end of the garden, Lucy's favourite thing to do (when she has the time!) is still to sit and draw.

Our range of Location Letter designs are filled with intricate illustrations, monochrome typography and contain the landmarks and icons that celebrate towns, cities, counties and countries around the world.

Without our customers telling us which places matter to them we wouldn’t have grown to where we are today. Customer suggestions are critical in ensuring we celebrate the real essence of the places Lucy draws.

MADE IN BRITAIN

All our products are made in Britain by a range of amazing British run manufacturers, we love that we are supporting the UK economy and supply chain when we source our products.  

WE CARE ABOUT THE PLANET

We have eliminated as much plastic as possible from our packaging and products. We use biodegradable cellophane, our frames come wrapped in recycled cardboard and our prints are printed on the most sustainable paper we could find.

WOMEN LED BUSINESS

We love that we fly the flag for women run, small businesses. We are a woman run business and we love to support other women creatives we meet along the way.

Lucy started the business with a B for Brixton. 10 years and 200 location letters later she stills hand draw every design we sell. Her favourite letter design is Brixton because that's where it all began!

Managing our wholesale clients, fixing a process, finding a new supplier, Martha does anything and everything to support the business grow. Her favourite letter design is Cambridge, it's where she grew up.

How we help the planet

As we grow, we have to find more ways to look after our planet – after all, it’s the only one we have!

Recycled paper

This starts with our prints. All the paper and card we use for our  products are FSC certified. In fact, the paper we use is sourced from completely sustainable forests, uses recycled fibre, conserves water, and the factory it's made in harnesses wind power for their mills’ electrical energy.

 Tree planted for every order

For every order we recieve we plant a tree with Ecologi, you can see our growing forest of trees here. We’re always working on ways to improve our sustainability and reduce our carbon footprint which is why it’s our goal to offset all of our carbon emissions by 2025.

No plastic

We use as little packaging as possible - and any that we do is sustainably sourced.  Our prints and cards come in biodegradable cellophane and our frames come wrapped in recycled cardboard.

Less waste

 Our packaging may not be ‘extravagant’ but it means much less wastage and rubbish. This is why our bags, notebooks and coasters come loose in a recycled envelope – to reduce the need for extra plastic.
